Best of 2015

There were a lot of ups and downs to 2015. Being unemployed for a few months really ruined some travel plans or me. But there were definitely a lot of great moments over all! I’d like to look back on some of my favorite things of the past year:

SWW1

Ian McDiarmid aka Emperor Palpatine

Star Wars Weekend 2015 at Walt Disney World:

While I fully plan to do an actual full post on the insane coolness which was this event, I do need to spoil it some now. In May last year, we took my nieces for their first ever trip to Disney World and Universal, and strategically planned it so the girls could go for Star Wars Weekends. Well, long story short, my nieces were picked to be in the opening parade, in which they’d be dressed as Jedi Padawans and given lightsabers and some quick training from the Jedi Academy, before leading the celebrity guests in that were riding in the parade. And they needed two adults to walk the parade with the girls… I WALKED IN THE STAR WARS PARADE WITH EMPEROR PALPATINE!

Adventures with my nieces:

Since we’re on the subject, taking my nieces to Orlando in general was a BLAST! I loved letting them experience everything, and seeing the excitement on their faces when riding something or meeting a favorite character. I can’t wait to take them back for the Halloween awesomeness this year!

Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags St Louis:

BATMAN! Enough said. Well, ok, not enough said. This ride was fantastic and reminded me of being back at Universal Studios, except – luckily for me – it’s much closer to where I live. And, again: BATMAN!

Wizard World Chicago:

Meeting a ton of awesome people and getting to geek out properly is pretty much the BEST way to spend my birthday.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party:

Walt Disney World at Halloween is always awesome. This year, it was particularly awesome because of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.

The Carnage Returns:

Halloween Horror Nights 25 at Universal Studios Orlando was fantastic, and this show feature Jack the Clown and Chance was by far one of my absolute favorites ever. And definitely one of my favorite things at HHN.

Freddy vs Jason at HHN 25:

Besides the return of Jack the Clown, this was my other absolute favorite thing about HHN 25 at Universal Orlando – the Freddy vs Jason house. This was such a cool house and a great experience for fans of either franchise. I would have spent forever playing around in that house if I could have!

Nature Walks:

This year, during the brief time I was unemployed, I had time to do something I love and never have time for: adventures in the woods. I love nature walks and hiking, so having some time to wander around with my friends was one of my favorite things.

WICKED

Wicked:

Having AMAZING seats to an AMAZING performance of Wicked at the Fox.

Meeting Kevin Smith:

There were many reasons my trip to Reno was disappointing, and all to do with the fact that I became HORRIBLY sick. But due to a chain of events I will eventually go into more detail on, I got to meet Kevin Smith! Definitely one of the BEST things about 2015 for me.

There’s a quick summary of the best parts of the past year! What were some of the best things to happen to you last year? Leave me a comment below!
