Dark Tourist

From a nuclear lake to a haunted forest, journalist David Farrier visits unusual — and often macabre — tourism spots around the world.

When I first heard about Dark Tourist on Netflix, I was immediately intrigued. I mean HELLO – dark tourism? Weird travel is right up my alley. So, I finally made some time to watch the first season.

This was definitely an interesting show. David Farrier ventures into some dangerous and sometimes bizarre places and situations, some of which I really hadn’t expected.

Some of my favorite parts were his American destinations, his time learning about voodoo, and most of the Japan episode. But honestly, it was all really interesting. It was a safe way to explore some less-than-safe places and events, and also a cool way to check out new things you may want to add to a travel itinerary that are a little less scary to do. I know a few things I’d love to do that the show inspired me to visit.

If you have a taste for the macabre or a love for travel and weird history, go watch Dark Tourist. I’m eagerly awaiting a second season, so let’s cross our fingers that they keep this show going.

Have you watched Dark Tourist yet? What were some of your favorite episodes?
