Review: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Saturday, my best friend and I decided to make pizza fries and bask in our love for Kevin Smith by watching Jay & Silent Bob Reboot together for the first time.

I wanted to see Reboot when it came to St. Louis on tour, but I seem to be cursed when it comes to getting to see Kevin Smith when he’s in town and never get tickets, so I waited and bought the dvd when it released.

If you’ve been around a bit, you know how much meeting Kevin Smith meant to me, and somehow blessed me to be on Comic Book Men.

After finishing Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, I turned to my best friend and said “I think this may be my favorite Kevin Smith movie.”

Jay & Silent Bob Reboot was packed with celebrity cameos, View Askewniverse references and characters, reuniting with old friends, tugging on heart strings, and made us crack up laughing.

This movie was a blast from start to finish. It is the embodiment of a Kevin Smith movie in all the absolute best ways, and such a love letter to his fans and the career he’s built for himself.

There are people that won’t appreciate this movie, as there are always people that can’t be pleased or just don’t have the same tastes as other people. But for us, it was glorious.

It achieved what many of Kevin’s movies do for me: make me laugh, and hit me with some feel good moments.

And the credit scene tribute to Stan Lee made me bawl like a baby in front of my best friend.

I think it’s worth watching, even if you have your doubts. I’m thrilled I own it and can watch it again and again.

Have you watched Jay & Silent Bob Reboot?
