Review: Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity Secret Files #1

“In Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity by Kami Garcia, Mico Suayan and Jason Badower, Harley Quinn is hunting two serial killers: The Joker, a brutal psychopath who murdered her roommate and disappeared years ago, and the killer currently terrorizing Gotham City. Throughout the acclaimed series, Garcia has been consulting forensic psychiatrist and behavior analyst Edward Kurz, MD, to ensure the accuracy of the story and of Harley’s methodology.

In the one-shot Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity Secret Files #1, see pieces of the puzzle on Harley’s investigation board and steal a glimpse into John Kelly’s high school notebook—a book he still carries today.”

I love Harley/Joker: Criminal Sanity. I’ve written reviews about it here and on Outright Geekery. I’ve professed my love and posted covers on my Instagram. It’s no surprise that I love this one shot.

Harley Quinn is, of course, my favorite character, so getting some focus on her career, combined with my own love of psychology, really makes this one of the coolest comics on shelves right now.

Reading through the issue is like sorting through files and documents pertaining to a case, giving us a deeper insight to everything going on. And the fact it was cowritten by forensic psychiatrist and behavior analyst Edward Kurz, MD makes it feel even more legitimate.

If you’ve been reading the series, definitely grab this one shot! And if you haven’t been reading Harley/Joker: Criminal Sanity- catch up now!
