“How can a journalist ethically report on a story that they know can’t possibly be true? As packages with proof of impossible stories keep arriving on one reporter’s doorstop, sent by a mysterious entity known only as Q, one reporter must find the answer themselves. JAMES TYNION IV (Something is Killing the Children) & MARTIN SIMMONDS (Dying is Easy) send the Department of Truth after the Fourth Estate.”
The last issue of The Department of Truth really punched me in the guy with all the feels. Luckily, this issue took a step back from that and pushed forward with the story and the purpose of the Department of Truth. This is definitely a bit more wordy of an issue, but there’s a TON to cover in explaining the significance of this department through example, and it’s still excellently done.
I can’t get over how unique and beautiful Martin Simmonds art is. Every issue is so gorgeous and so visually stimulating. I just love looking through all of it again once I’ve finished reading because there’s so much to take in. Aditya Bidikar also does a fantastic job with the lettering in this book.
