After Kat learns of an old tragedy that brought Comfort Notch to its knees, the bitter, burn-scarred Carol Ravintzky finally tells the tale of the terrible death of Clementine Biddle.

Brace yourself for this issue, because it does not hold back.

I’m so in love with the story building Daniel Kraus is doing with the Autumnal. So much is revealed in this issue, and it’s a lot to take in. But you can feel the tension building up to something horrible. The dark secrets of Comfort Notch are being unearthed.

Chris Shehan and Jason Wordie do some brilliant work in this issue. I was particularly impressed with a set of panels talking about the town fire, and while Kat and the other character discussed it, the sun was setting. The colors were vivid orange and yellows and reds. It evokes both the autumn leaves colors, as well as the fire they were discussing. It was just so well done and really made that scene more immersive. I adore Shehan’s work and Wordie’s colors compliment everything so well. And Jim Campbell did a fabulous job with the lettering.

Do not miss this issue! But be prepared for the darkest issue of the Autumnal yet.
