The sudden vanishing of a Comfort Notch citizen compels Kat to follow a hidden-in-plain-sight clue… before the worst omen of all manifests from the leaves.”

I can’t get over how much I adore this series. The depth to the story, slowly peeling back layers and building the tension for readers – it’s masterful. I love horror like this. The subtle, unsettling darkness that seems to reach out of the book and come into the reader’s reality. Have I mentioned how creepy the fall leaves were for me last year? Especially finding any stray leaves that have somehow tracked inside the house.

As usual, Chris Shehan and Jason Wordie absolutely bring the horrors of Comfort Notch to life, and really sell the idea of mundane things like leaves feeling like sinister entities. There are some deeply disturbing pages in this issue that are just perfection. And Jim Campbell does excellent work as always with the lettering.

Don’t miss this issue! Out this Wednesday.
