Review: Stray Dogs #2

Written by Tony Fleecs
Art by Trish Forstner
Colors by Brad Simpson
Layout artist: Tone Rodriguez

Something doesn’t smell right! None of the dogs know what happens behind that door at the end of the hallway. All they know is there’s a punishment for sniffing around it. What secrets are hidden in the Master’s Forbidden Room?

Another layer of the story is revealed to us, and the tension is building. The other dogs may not believe Sophie yet, but in time, they may start to see behind their master’s secrets and lies. Even with the lingering threat of punishment – something is wrong, and they need to figure it out.

I love the mystery of this book. Seeing the story through the eyes of the dogs adds an element to it all, and really breaks your heart if you have dogs yourself, like I do. It’s bad enough thinking about being murdered – but what happens to my dog after? Kills me.

I love this art style. The dogs all feel innocent. But things pertaining to the master, his punishments, his private room, the missing owners… it all feels darker and more dangerous. The dogs entering the forbidden room heightens your anxiety and makes you fearful for Rusty and Sophie.

Don’t miss issue two, out this week!
