“When you get to the heart of darkness, what if you hesitate?”

Facing everything you’ve begged for for years, what feels like your life’s purpose…. can you really step into that darkness?

One of my favorite things about this series is the bond between the two main characters. A found family between two broken people. I mean, of course I love a literal monster killing monstrous people. But the emotional development is what gives this book so much heart.

Watching the growth and changes of the characters over time helps us easily differentiate when things are happening without having to tell us what things are flashbacks, and I appreciate that in the art so much. It’s a very real feeling book despite supernatural elements, and beautifully done. The lettering is also fantastic and really fits the book.
