About the NerdGirl

HarleySelfie

Basics: Writer. Photographer. Traveler. NerdGirl. Collector. Batman obsessed. Weirdo.

Bio: My name is Angel Young, and I’m a bit eccentric by nature. I’ve always loved the nerdier things in life, as well as the creative. Finally, I’ve decided to combine some of my passions into one project. I’ve fused my love for writing, photography, travel, and fandoms into one beast – Wandering NerdGirl. Here I plan to explore the world and all the nerdy adventures it has to offer me.

I’ve always been the odd girl out. I was in love with horror before I knew what horror really was. I cut teeth on vampire movies, played with my beloved Wolfy doll, and devoured classic monster movies, before eventually falling in love with slasher movies around the age of 12.

But that wasn’t my only love. I’ve always, always loved Batman, for as long as I can remember. Over time, my Batman stuff has snowballed into a massive collection that I regularly add to, especially if I find anything on my adventures.

Pieces of my heart have been left in various places I’ve traveled to. I head to Disney World and Universal Orlando quite a bit, and I’m always down for a good con when I have the chance, though a road trip to New Orleans is always fun. And let’s not forget Salem, Massachusetts – where I someday long to stay. But I haven’t been able to settle the wanderlust yet, so plenty of destinations are on the way.

To summarize: I love Batman. I’m a bit of a weirdo. I’m a restless soul. A Universal girl with a spooky heart.

I’m ready to take you all on my adventures with me. Are you ready?

  1. Sounds like you are off to what Bill & Ted would call, “An Excellent Adventure.” Perhaps because I’ve been on my own adventure so long, I find your self-definition of ‘weird’ as a misnomer. You are reaching out and finding wonder everywhere … which is of course where wonder is. In time, as you look back on your life, you may find as I have that those not pursuing wonder have limited themselves. Why? Pretty weird, huh?

    • Same here! Except mine was illness rather than a breakup. I got really sick and hospitalized, ended up a train wreck for a while, and started traveling more to deal with the stress and depression caused from finding out I have an autoimmune disease, and it’s really become an effective coping mechanism! All the best to you as well!

  2. Angel, I’m pleased you liked my Batman Day 2016 post. It’s nice to meet someone who loves Batman so much. I’m hoping to write something every September for International Batman Day.

You are not obligated to do so, but if you’re interested, my first International Batman Day post can be found here: https://patricksponaugle.com/2015/10/04/international-batman-day-really-it-should-be-international-batman-night/

    Thanks again for stopping by!

  3. Angel thanks for liking my post on the New York Hall of science. We all are a bit nerdy and eccentric . My thing is going into a city for a sporting event although, Salem, Massachusetts is on my bucket list. Hope to read more of your posts.
