The people behind Cape Comic Con have added two new types of cons to their roster this year: Cape Anime Con, and Cape Fear Con – which is next month.
While I’ve been to cons that have had voiice actors from animes, or merchandise from various anime, I have never been to an anime specific con. But I enjoy anime, and my nieces are getting into it a lot as well, so I figured this would be a great way to test the waters.
Batman Day 2019 was probably one of my busiest so far! Two comics shops and a trip to Barnes and Noble (plus a stop at the mall and Spirit Halloween, but those weren’t Batman related) – all adding up to a great but exhausting day!
We started our day with food on the way to Six Flags for their celebration of 80 years of Batman. We stopped at a diner we love in Crystal City, MO called Gordon’s Stoplight Drive-in.
Then we made our way to Six Flags.
You can see our full adventure in my video.
This has been a long awaited tale, for many. One of my greatest adventures from a little over three years ago.
The story of my spontaneous trip to Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash for Comic Book Men.
I’ve had a love for the Rocky Horror Picture Show for longer than I can recall. There’s something about that movie that brings me joy and makes me think of good times with friends: either watching the movie together, or seeing it performed at our local college and everyone dressing up and having a blast. This movie is special to me.
Four years ago, I was lucky enough to meet Barry Bostwick (aka Brad Majors), and he was an ABSOLUTELY funny and sweet guy.
So imagine my joy, and a bit of surprise, when I learned we were having a local RHPS event, held at Alexander’s at the Factort in Farmington, MO?
The Saint Louis Science Center does a monthly, nerdy event every month called First Friday. As the name suggests, it’s the first Friday of each month, and each is themed differently. They offer a variety of activities, vendors for fandom merch, and occasionally special guests.
And best of all: it’s free to the public, as is parking. There are select ticketed events they warn, but I didn’t encounter any on this trip to know which to point out.
May the 4th (Be With You) and Free Comic Book Day hit on the same day this year, which made my hope for a whole Star Wars themed party a bit unattainable, but we did get to have an accidentally too busy FCBD.
We only went to one participating shop, but before that went to another shop we enjoy mostly because, for once, my brother was also with us, so it seemed like a good excuse to drive an hour out of the way.
So, first stop was Villainous Grounds.
