I don’t like to go into detail here very often when it comes to my health. You’re here for cool adventures and nerdy goodness, not to read about the fact that my body is broken. Aside from the unavoidable mention of it in my post about meeting Kevin Smith for the first time, I don’t think I really talk about it all that much here.
But I think it’s time I take a minute to explain my chronic illnesses and how my mortality brought about Wandering NerdGirl.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved monsters. My mom proudly tells people the stories: I cut teeth watching the Universal Monsters, I had a treasured Wolfman I carried around named Wolfy. One of her favorite stories involves me sitting outside with a black pot making “potions” while our new neighbors moved in. I idolized Elvira instead of pop stars. I grew up with a special place in my heart for Frankenstein’s monster and hunted for ghosts. The same year I got my first cellphone, I got my first Ouija board. It’s safe to say I started out a weirdo.

The most glorious day of the year is upon us! In honor of the spookiest day of the whole year, I want to share some of my Must Do Traditions every October.
My nieces and I love taking normal things and making them weird or spooky. So tonight, we’re trying a dessert out – spooky jello.
Last weekend, my nieces and I decided to have a themed movie night. Spooky season is upon us, after all!
So here’s how I threw together an easy Mummy themed movie night:

“Selina Kyle is fiercer than she knows. For 15 years, she’s put up with her mother’s string of bad boyfriends, but when Dernell, her mom’s current beau, proves crueler than the others, Selina reevaluates her place in her home. There’s no way Selina and Dernell can live under the same roof, and since Dernell won’t leave, Selina must.
From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Myracle ( ttyl) and artist Isaac Goodhart comes a story about learning how to survive the world when you’ve been forced to abandon your home and finding allies in the most unexpected moments.”
THE DAY HAS ARRIVED, MY FRIENDS!
It’s no secret: I was OBSESSED with Batman: White Knight. I wrote about how brilliant it was, which Sean Murphy was kind enough to share:
Early July Haul says it all. I needed to take advantage of some holiday sales to cope with how stressful the 4th of July is for me.
