“SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #1, an all-new original series from GLAAD Award-winning author James Tynion IV (The Woods, Justice League) and artist Werther Dell’Edera (Briggs Land) about a close-knit community rocked by a series of murders and the first appearance of Erica Slaughter, a mysterious figure who rides into town claiming she can stop the brutal murders turning their community upside down.
But the local police and authority figures don’t know what to make of this dangerous outsider who claims to believe the local kids and their rumors of monsters in the woods. Can they trust this so-called “monster” hunter with their children’s lives? Or is Erica Slaughter an unhinged killer who’ll only bring more tragedy into their community?”

Here in the heartland of the U.S. of A., the world has ended! But worry not, because the mall still stands. And within the walls of this consumeristic mecca lies a new world order: box store tribes and name brand gangs, all vying for limited space and resources. So, actually…you can worry! Especially for poor Andre Reed, who, after the assassination of a tribal leader, has to navigate the mad haven to prove his innocence, and prevent the end of world, again!
I was recently contacted to review Modern Mythology: The Hero’s Journey, a comic anthology retelling mythological stories, many reimagined in new, more modern ways. I was sent a digital copy for review, along with a press kit of images I can use for my review, and a link to their Kickstarter.
The creator and editor, Caleb Palmquist, really pulled together an amazing team of writers and artists to create something special with this book. Modern Mythology: The Hero’s Journey is a 160+ page softcover book with seventeen stories created by 29 talented individuals. In addition to all of this amazingness, there are also a collection of pin ups from other independent comic book artists.
I was recently contacted by an Australian company called Geek X about their new line of licensed DC collectibles, and asked if I’d share some of their upcoming preorders. And man, they have some beautiful stuff on the way!
Last weekend, we decided to go check out a shop I’ve wanted to visit in St. Charles, MO. I’ve followed their page on Facebook for a little while and saw a sale and figured it was the perfect excuse to make the drive.
May the 4th (Be With You) and Free Comic Book Day hit on the same day this year, which made my hope for a whole Star Wars themed party a bit unattainable, but we did get to have an accidentally too busy FCBD.
We only went to one participating shop, but before that went to another shop we enjoy mostly because, for once, my brother was also with us, so it seemed like a good excuse to drive an hour out of the way.
So, first stop was Villainous Grounds.
It’s New Comic Book Day, and I’m here with a new review and recommendation.
DCEASED #1 is here, and maaaan, I’ve been excited for this one.

I am back (and still trying to recover from) my first con of the year – Planet Comicon! While we had a ton of fun this year, it certainly wiped me out – and we only attended two days!
