I think you guys know that I love Rocky Horror Picture Show, based on my post in August (or you can watch the video here), so when my alma mater announced the performance of Rocky Horror the first weekend in October, it immediately became priority on my schedule.
“For 27 years, I dreamt of you. I craved you. I’ve missed you!”
This was probably my most anticipated movie of 2019, followed very closely by Star Wars. But I’ve been dying for part two of IT since 2017, and finally, it has arrived.
Here’s my spoiler free review:
I’ve had a love for the Rocky Horror Picture Show for longer than I can recall. There’s something about that movie that brings me joy and makes me think of good times with friends: either watching the movie together, or seeing it performed at our local college and everyone dressing up and having a blast. This movie is special to me.
Four years ago, I was lucky enough to meet Barry Bostwick (aka Brad Majors), and he was an ABSOLUTELY funny and sweet guy.
So imagine my joy, and a bit of surprise, when I learned we were having a local RHPS event, held at Alexander’s at the Factort in Farmington, MO?
It’s been a rough time trying to plan out some farther from home adventures, a big part of it being the struggle with chronic illness and trying to function like normal. Hence why there wasn’t a trip to the Superman Celebration this year, and instead a trip to the hospital.
BUT! Fear not.
I’m planning a trip. A proper trip. Finally.
We have encountered a major problem within the community of geekery. My fellow nerds and my fandoms were once a safe escape from the rest of the world. When the jerks of the world were making it hard to get through the day, I could turn to my fictional escapes, and to my friends – online and in real life – that shared the same passions. I could turn to Instagram or Twitter or wherever. I remember being excited for new adaptations of comics or books or games, whatever, just because I had a new version of something I cared about to enjoy.
But things have been going downhill for a while now, and not just for me.
After Hellboy Day, we decided to head to Six Flags this weekend for opening day.
We rode our favorite, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, checked out the merchandise out so far, and looked for any updates to the Supergirl ride opening this year.
I had told myself I would wait until I had caught up on The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion before I’d watch the Netflix series. Then I grew impatient. And accidentally binged the whole thing. So. Here we are.
One of my big requests for this year was more reviews. So today, let’s talk about my first pin from @schelsyagain on Instagram.
I’ve wanted to grab one of her pins for a long time, and finally got around to getting one when she restocked the Love Changes Everything pin. Combine that with a sale and her kitty needing some medical help, and I had to make a purchase.
