HHN 30 Update: Jack is Back, Baby!

While whether or not I get to attend this year is very much up in the air, one this is for sure: Universal is blessing us this year with Jack’s return!

Planning the Next Adventure

It’s been a rough time trying to plan out some farther from home adventures, a big part of it being the struggle with chronic illness and trying to function like normal. Hence why there wasn’t a trip to the Superman Celebration this year, and instead a trip to the hospital.

BUT! Fear not.

I’m planning a trip. A proper trip. Finally.

“You Have a Trip Coming Up”

This is a reoccurring reminder every time I go shopping before any trip.

You have a trip coming up.

Yup. I do. So, tell me, how’d I go to buy some jeans for my trip, and end up with all this?

YouHaveATrip

Okay. Let’s reason, a bit, here:

There was a sale at All the Rage comics (which I need to do a proper post on, sometime), where everything I bought was either 50% or 25% off. So, the three comics toward the bottom were 50%. Then the 1986 trade paperback of The Dark Knight Returns was 25% off, and I ended up paying less than $10 for it. Then that copy of Metal was 25% off, and I’d been wanting that particular cover. Decent and fairly inexpensive haul, there.

The Lil Gotham issues were $2.99 at V-stock, and actually came with a second issue behind each one. So I walked away with issues #1-4, plus my mom bought them for me. So, zero spent on those four issues.

I needed to buy a small purse, and planned to make this purchase, because I don’t want to haul my con bag around outside of the con itself. I mainly just needed a place to shove a few items in that zips. So, I went into Hot Topic to have a look. They were having a sale: if you bought any bag, if you put anything into the bag, you’d get 25% off the bag AND the item. So, the Tiffany Pop! from Bride of Chucky got shoved into the Harley bag. I left paying less for both than I would have for just the bag, itself. SCORE!

I did get my jeans and other miscellaneous clothing items I needed for my trip. But the point was showing that I could still make a haul like the one above, save a bunch of money, and still be ready for a con that is now ONE WEEK AND ONE DAY AWAY! Whoa. I should finish packing…

HHN 26: American Horror Story

hhnahs

American Horror Story is an FX series that has grown a massive following of horror and non-horror fans, alike. With changing themes each season, it’s definitely an interesting concept that keeps people guessing what will happen from season to season, and, more recently, trying to connect the dots between each season.

The American Horror Story house for Halloween Horror Nights 26 is comprised of three seasons: Season One – The Murder House, Season Four – Freakshow, and Season Five – Hotel. Unfortunately, while I did get to tour this house, I couldn’t take any behind the scenes pictures because the photo policy with the IP houses just changed. However, I do have a little bit of insight to share.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Halloween Horror Nights 26 Prep!

hhn26prep

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, boys and ghouls! Autumn is in the air, and Halloween is creeping up on us. You know what that means — Halloween Horror Nights!

Some of the houses I’m particularly excited about – The Exorcist, AHS, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween – have had my happy little horror loving brain so excited that I can barely focus. I’m finalizing plans and tickets. I’m freaking out with excitement because I know I’ll be there Sunday, finally basking in the awesome which is Universal, and Halloween Horror Nights.

horrorghoul

I decided to pack my Blood Brothers shirt from Terror Threads to wear for the event itself. Fitting, since last year they had the Freddy vs Jason house, and this year they’ve brought Michael Myers and Leatherface back.  Plus, this shirt is ridiculously cool and comfortable, as are all of the shirts from Terror Threads. If you love horror, you’ll definitely love their products.

We start the drive to Orlando Friday night, so there probably won’t be any new posts here until I’m back. Can’t wait to come back with loads of pictures for you guys!

HHN 26: Updates

I’ve had a lot of things kinda drag me behind lately, so forgive my absence! I’ve missed updating you guys on the rest of the announcements for Halloween Horror Nights Orlando, and with it starting this week, and my own trip beginning next week, I probably need to catch up!

Here’s the rest of the house line up from the official Halloween Horror Nights site:

Suicide Squad: Premiere and Review

HQAMC

The critics have been bashing it. Kevin Smith has sung praises for it. It’s finally here for the masses. And, specifically, I was eagerly waiting to watch it. There was a lot at stake for me: I’ve been wanting a New 52 Suicide Squad movie. When I saw the first pictures of the cast, I was nervous. The first SDCC leaked trailer left me feeling unsure. Whenever new trailers began releasing, though, my opinion changed. My personal hype began building. I finally built this up so much, that when the movie finally began, I was grinning like an idiot. My baby, Harley Quinn, that I’ve loved as long as I can remember, was FINALLY GOING TO BE ON SCREEN.

But, what did I actually think of the movie?

SPOILER FREE!

It was what I needed. The Easter eggs were so magnificent, I nearly jumped from my seat to cheer. The feel of the New 52 Suicide Squad comics and the missions, characters I loved seeing on the screen like Harley, Deadshot, Diablo, and Boomerang had fantastic chemistry. Margot Robbie was fantastic. Even Jared Leto as the Joker made me happy. This movie was what I needed it to be, and I left happy. I understand why it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But don’t ruin it for those of us that it worked for.

I’d love to go into detail on more things, but I’ll wait a while before I say anything spoiler-y.

Either way, this was what I needed it to be, and I can’t wait to see it again. Critics and haters be damned.
