Review: The Me You Love in the Dark #5

Written by Scottie Young
Art by Jorge Corona
Colors by Jean-Francois Beaulieu
Letters by Nate Piekos

Ro can no longer ignore the connection she feels to her unique housemate—or the extreme and intense danger that relationship could hold for her.

An intense, dark, and incredible end to what has been one of my absolute favorite comics of 2021. There is something incredibly special about this horrific, monster romance.

The final issue feels so much like the reality of trying to leave a toxic, dangerous relationship – even though the specific relationship Ro is in isn’t exactly reality. The fact you can lose yourself in someone else until you’re so involved, you realize you’re trapped in something unhealthy. Or, in this case, incredibly dangerous.

The art is stunning and powerful and brings so much life to the story. The creature design is incredible and unique. The setting and horror elements are well executed. The colors are beautiful and haunting and set that tone so well. The lettering is perfect.

Bravo to everyone that worked on this book!

Don’t miss the final issue of The Me You Love in the Dark – out tomorrow!
