Review: Hollow Heart #1

Writer: Paul Allor
Artist: Paul Tucker
Colorist: Paul Tucker
Letterer: Paul Allor
Designer: Tim Daniel

EL used to be human. Now he’s a jumble of organs in a bio-suit. EL is also in tremendous pain and has been for a very long time. Hope arrives in the form of Mateo, a mechanice brought in to work on EL’s suit. Mateo sees LK in a way no one ever has. And what’s more: Mateo offers EL an escape.
Hollow Heart reunites Tet creators Paul Allor and Paul Tucker for a queer monster love story about the choices we make between giving our loved one what they want and what we think they need.”

I have been SO ready to talk to you guys about this book, and the time has finally come! I had the opportunity to read Hollow Heart #1 (and #2, but we’ll get to that closer to it’s release), in January. It’s really stuck with me ever since.

This book is like The Shape of Water, but with queer leads. A monster love story we can all fall in love with. The story absolutely captured my heart, and I adore EL so much. You definitely won’t want to miss this issue.

I adore the art as well. Paul Tucker does a beautiful job with the artwork. The imagery and character designs are fantastic. The colors are really stunning. It suits the story so perfectly. And writer Paul Allor does the lettering, and does a fantastic job with it.

Don’t miss out on Hollow Heart #1 this Wednesday! It’s the perfect after Valentine’s Day treat.
