“The Old James House turns on Ami. If she can’t conquer her own demons, how can she expect to conquer those that haunt its hallways? Perhaps demons aren’t for conquering. Perhaps we must fight alongside them…
The house fistfights a monster is what we’re getting at, in the END OF OUR FIRST STORY ARC.”
The end of the first story arc is here, and it is absolutely breathtaking in every way. The story we’ve been given is so unique and beautiful, blending together subjects that don’t immediately sound like they belong together: punk bands, mech pilots, and ghosts – but holy hell. This story proves that when executed well, anything is possible. Originality can still be found, folks.
Of course, we have the ridiculously stunning art of Caspar Wijngaard, which brings these incredible visions to life in some of the most beautiful art I’ve ever seen. The designs are unique, giving every ghost their own look. The colors are so vibrant and wonderful. The lettering is great. Everyone on the creative team really should be praised. This is a team effort that made such an incredible book. So congrats to all involved!
Grab issue five this week. Or if you’ve missed out, order the first five issues in trade form here, and get caught up before the series resumes in June!
