Travel Plans: London Calling

LondonCalling

I’ve wanted to go to England for what feels like forever now. In particular, I’ve had my little heart set on London, and all it’s wonder. There have been several times I’ve said “Okay, that’s it, I’m going next year” – and then I didn’t, for whatever reason.

But I’ve decided there will be no more of that. No more putting it off. I’m going to make serious plans now, even if I have to go alone.

FINALLY, I’m going to make plans, and an itinerary, and slowly but steadily build my savings. I’m going to wander freely, but have my bits of touristy delight. I’m going to surround myself with history and culture and nerdy findings. Specifically on my list will be Harry Potter.

I’m working on putting together a rough idea of my itinerary so I can figure out exactly how much I need, so I can figure out when I can go, and be as prepared as humanly possible. So it may not be next year. But I’m doing it. I’m going to go.

Hopefully I can have my rough itinerary up in a few weeks!

More to come as I begin planning!

  1. Where are you from? Sounds like it’s a big trip for you! 🙂 I lived there for 3 years and loved it, but the expense got too much 😛 I’d recommend Hampstead Heath, Greenwich (and Greenwich Park) and Camden Town 🙂 hope the saving is going okay!

  2. Wow, yeah you are coming a long way! I’ve recently discovered the joys of sites like AirBnb and Roomorama, next time I stay in London and can’t crash with a friend I’ll be using those…staying in London is so expensive 😦 Orlando sounds awesome though, it sucks living somewhere as tiny as the UK!

  3. I live in London and I love it! There’s always so much to do that you won’t get bored. I really recommed Shoreditch and the Brick Lane market on a Sunday.

  4. I’ve lived in London my whole life, and although I’m travelling for a year and won’t be home until June 2017, if you need any hints or tips please get in touch! Definitely go for Airbnb too, it’s cheap and a great way to make friends. Most people even show you around when they’re free. I plan on hosting when I’m home, I’ve only ever been a guest before.

  5. I’m in a bit of a rut when it comes to London (lived there for long enough that I developed a routine and stopped exploring) but i loved the museums (Tate Modern, V&A, British Museum, National Gallery – all free to enter!), the markets (Borough Market esp) & West End!

  6. Congrats. How wonderful!! Sounds like me. So many places in the UK are on my travel list. You really have to just do it! That’s how I ended up in Jamaica in January (pre-blog; throwback post to come soon) and Tulsa the last few years following a favorite band. Only you can make it happen. Look forward to reading more.
